ButtonGuard is a free "hack" for Palm V and Vx Connected Organizers designed to eliminate key jamming that discharges battery prematurely. The problem is aggravated by the fact that both V and Vx use built-in accumulators - and not many people carry bulky charger on a trip.

ButtonGuard requires HackMaster (EvPlugBase, X-Master) to run.

During its operation, ButtonGuard disables keyboard wake up interrupts - the device should not eat batteries at all if an application key is jammed. Overnight jammed key does not result in any battery loss (real life test).

Power button turns the device on as usual.

Buttonguard disables HotSync button as well for those who have Palm modems.

Known problems

• On some units, Address Book key still powers the unit up

• Does not work on Handspring

• Disables Hotsync key even if you don't want it to
